A leaning wall gets taken down, not pushed back. We excavate behind the line, compact the base, and rebuild with drainage stone and perforated tile carrying water out. Reinforcement gets matched to the height, with geogrid tied back on taller walls. The wall that goes back up is a different structure than the one that failed, even when the face looks the same.
Timber walls from the 1980s and 90s are usually past saving, and block or stone is the durable replacement. We reuse sound material where it makes sense and haul out the rest. River Hills and the Crystal Lake neighborhoods carry a lot of that vintage, and the terrain there gives walls real height.
New walls turn slope into usable yard. A single tall wall is not always the answer. Terracing with two shorter walls often drains better, costs less to engineer and leaves you planting beds. We build in block and natural stone, and we set base depth for Minnesota frost, not for the catalog photo.
