A concrete driveway in Minneapolis, Bloomington, Burnsville and across the Twin Cities metro lives a hard life: frost heave from below, plow blades and deicing salt from above, and a parked vehicle load every day between. Ours are built for that math — full-depth tear-out of the failed slab, base compacted to stop the settling that cracked it, air-entrained concrete at proper thickness, and control joints laid out so the slab cracks where we tell it to.
Replacement is most of the driveway work we do, because most metro driveways were poured on lean base decades ago and are past saving. Heaved panels, alligator cracking, scaling from salt — once those spread, mudjacking and patching are rent, not a fix. We pour the driveway once, right, and pair it with the aprons, walks and steps that finish the front of the house.

Frost gets under a driveway through the base. When the ground below holds water, winter freezes it into lenses that lift panels unevenly; spring melts them and the panels drop. A few cycles of that and the slab cracks along its own stress lines — then salt widens the cracks and scales the surface. The original sin is almost always base prep, not the concrete.
So the base is where our driveway estimates put the money: excavation to stable soil, compacted class-5 aggregate at real depth, and grades that move water off the slab and away from the garage. It is invisible on day one, and it is why the driveway looks the same in year fifteen.
Thickness matched to load — with thickened sections where trucks or trailers park. Air-entrained concrete, because a non-air mix in Minnesota is a five-year driveway. Reinforcement where spans and soil call for it. Joints sawcut on a clean layout that both controls cracking and looks intentional. Edges formed straight, apron tied to the street correctly, and a cure-and-seal schedule so the surface is defended before its first salt season.
Finish is your choice: standard broom for grip, or decorative textures and borders if the front of the house calls for something more. Either way, flat is flat, and water leaves the slab — we check both with a level and a hose, not by eye.
A full replacement runs on a tight, predictable sequence: tear-out and haul, base correction, forming, pour, finish, joint cutting, and cure — with the driveway typically drivable in about a week. If the budget calls for phasing, driveways section well: apron and lower run this season, the rest next.
We will also tell you when replacement is not yet necessary. A structurally sound driveway with surface wear can sometimes wait a few more winters — and we would rather you spend those dollars on masonry that cannot wait than on concrete that can.

We assess the masonry where it lives — what failed, why, and how far it has spread. On commercial buildings that means getting on the wall, not a drive-by.
You get a written price with the must-fix separated from the can-wait, so the budget goes where the wall needs it. Timelines and access logistics are spelled out up front.
Matched materials, full joints, proper crowns, real bases and drainage. Occupied buildings stay open, sites get protected, and cleanup happens every day — not just the last one.
We walk the finished work together — joints, matches, cleanup, the whole scope. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

Crown repair, joint repointing, spalled brick replacement, stainless caps and chimney liner systems — the fixes that stop water before it forces a rebuild.

Failed mortar ground out and repointed to match the original — on chimneys, houses, and full commercial elevations. The fix that saves the wall you already have.

Spalled brick cut out and replaced, cracks stitched, bowed sections rebuilt, porch piers and steps restored — matched so the repair does not read as one.

Block and stone retaining walls engineered for Minnesota frost — proper base, drainage and reinforcement — plus rebuilds of walls that have started to lean.
Learn MoreRebuilding walls, chimneys and facades is not a sideline here — it is the core of the work. Matched brick, matched mortar, proper crowns and full joints, because that is why masonry lasts.
Freeze-thaw is the enemy of every wall in this state. Crowns that shed, joints struck to drain, air-entrained concrete, drainage behind every wall — details chosen for this climate, not a milder one.
We assess on the wall, separate must-fix from can-wait, and put price and timeline in writing. Owners and property managers can phase budgets instead of getting one take-it-or-leave-it number.
Occupied buildings, lifts and scaffolds, site protection and daily cleanup — we run residential jobs with the same discipline as a church tower, because the standard should not change with the address.
